So here it is, our new CD ‘Words Of A Fool’ is finally online :D To celebrate we went and did a little homemade-DIY video for the track SleepyHead! We hope you enjoy, be sure hit www.wearefeeds.bandcamp.com to hear the other songs :) FeedsFeedsFeeds x
Put a lot of work into this new CD, really happy with how it has come out. Looking forward to getting some reviews back and to start playing it live a little more. In the mean time, we made a video for the first single ‘SleepyHead’. Please have a watch, leave a comment and share it on :)
So last night was the final heat of the Student Unions BOTB competition. Now, when I think BOTB all I get I imagine is terrible rock covers of Lady Gaga and voting systems destroyed by that one band who bring every man and their dog.
However, this competition is different. For a start every audience member has TWO votes which are equal. The point being you can vote for your mate, and then which ever band you genuinely like. Its a brilliant system that has meant a genuinely good band has gone through from all of the 6 heats.
Heat 1 - The EBGBs - http://www.facebook.com/theebgbs
A great little funk/indie band from Huddersfield. Alright, perhaps they rely on covers and that damn wah pedal a tad too much. But I heard two songs of theirs at the Timeless gig on friday, ‘Vampire’ and ‘Howl at the moon’ that were damn good, Intensely fun and catchy pop.
Heat 2 - PaperPlane - http://paperplaneuk.bandcamp.com/
Possibly the biggest sounding three piece i’ve ever heard! Think Biffy Clyro but with more screaming. With a huge stage presence and a bloody childrens choir sample in the song ‘and in the end, i’ll build a time machine’, they have to be a favourite!
Heat 3 - Feeds - http://facebook.com/wearefeeds
Well, this is my own band. So I i’ll try and be a little unbiased. We’ve gone through somewhat of a genre change over the past year, what with recording the new CD…which will be on sale at the botb! Basically we’ve dialed down the lounge jazz, and turned up the power. Still rocking the 3 part harmonies though. Annoyingly all the stuff we have online doesn’t really describe us anymore, but that’ll change next week :)
Heat 4 - Dan Carter Music - http://soundcloud.com/dan-carter-music
Formerly the singer of Huddersfield powerhouse Decades, he’s now doing his own thing. With some of the music departments finests instrumentalists behind him (mind blowing bassist) he brings James Morrison and Maroon 5 vibes. I don’t think I heard this guy drop a single note in their heat, strong voice!
Heat 5 - Tom Savage - http://www.facebook.com/tomsavageandthehashmafia
The saviour of heat 5, after the glorious ‘Keep the change’ had to drop out. Donning the stage dressed as an alien, and with the fantastic Ben Brezinski on the keys. Think fun blues/rock with driving drums some good hooks.
Heat 6 - Animated - http://www.facebook.com/AnimatedUK
Now personally, I wanted the stunning ILoveColour to go through, but these guys went through. A few too many guitar solos for me, but they are bloody nice guys…and they were good guitar solos!
I have no idea which way the final is going to go, I just want to get on stage a kill it. Guaranteed to be a good night, so PLEASE come down and support the local scene!
Oh yeah, check out Escape Artist too, I fucking love those guys. Feeds beat them by just two votes in our heat! http://www.facebook.com/escapeartistuk
Zephyr Gig
Brilliant gig in town last night. All the new material is sounding great, I really think we’ve taken on board all the comments from the past and honed our sound into the Feeds sound! Its a little rockier, dials down the lounge-jazz and the actual songs all work well together. I’ll let you all make up your own minds once we release the new stuff in March.
Ended up in Camel last night, always a fun night when you end up in there. After 4hrs sleep I strolled my still tipsy self into uni this morning. Got a cute smile from a pretty red head on the way in too, if only I knew who she was!
Only an hour and half of train delays today. Eugh. Alas, finally back in Huddersfield. Apart from listening to other peoples conversations on the train, I also took some pictures out the window :)
Back to work tomorrow, in the studio at 8am tomorrow, gotta crack on with my 5.1 project due in NEXT THURSDAY. Now that is terrifying. So much left to do to get it to the standard I want it to!
Some student friends of mine did this video for the university. There’s also one about Aliens doing the rounds (http://youtu.be/nZJqHjr_z6Y), its worth noting that the university PAID for this! Money well spent?
Here’s some of the footage I’ve been capturing around Huddersfield over the past weeks. Its going to form part of a 5min audio/visual work in 5.1, at the moment i’ve just been getting to grips with the camera (Panasonic TM900) and Final Cut Pro (7, none of that X nonsense). Its worth noting there’s no sound atm!
I’m pretty happy with the landscape shots, and the close up ‘tilt-shift’ style ones. Its only a basic export so there’s lots of degradation in the quality but you get the idea.
The idea with the music is to explore the movement in the images, mostly following whats in and out of focus. E.G In the second shot, of Currys, theres a clear flow of movement with the road. Here the audio would be streaming from left to right following the traffic. Also, in the background of that shot there’s another road going up the hill but this is out of focus. So again, the audio would follow this direction but it would be more ‘dull’ sounding and probably quieter as to not draw your focus.
Simples…
I recorded this in Huddersfield earlier on. I just happened to be walking around town with my recorder for a uni module and this guy…piped up…listen to it and you’ll get the awful pun.
Anyway, he’s DAMN GOOD. My favourite part is at the end, he suddenly stops and lets the air die out of the bag. Why does he do this…? Its because his phone goes off! Oh, thats not exciting you think. Well, this comedy genius has bagpipes on his phone too! I lol’d in the high st…
