For those interested, heres my dissertation! A short collection of tracks written, recorded and produced by yours truly! The idea was to explore moving from different emotions. From intimate, to epic.
Its all due in tomorrow, so tonight shall be spent tidying up all the scores I’ve done for the songs. As well as the written report!

When my band won the BOTB competition, we won some prize money for the local music shop. With my share I brought two new pedals (Chorus and Delay) and a lovely pedal board too! I’m ordering some neutrik right-angled 1/4” jack connectors and getting a friend of mine to solder up some cables at specific lengths for my pedal board. That’ll mean I wont have to bend or stretch any cables between pedals!
It’s gonna be sweet having this extension to my sound, definitely going have to start recording a D.I signal in the studio with my acoustic now though, FX are definitely becoming more a important part of my sound!
Get rid of that plectrum and play bass like a real man ;)

From my own research, theres a remarkable lack of information on the internet about acoustic guitar and effects pedals. I myself play acoustic in my band Feeds, alongside an electric guitarist, keyboard (piano/rhodes) bass and drums.

Thats blood!! I cut the inside of my finger playing guitar at the Timeless gig on friday night ha, turns out I left a few drops on the guitar. Whoops.
I’m just gonna say it gives it character….that or probably just wipe it off!
Turns out guitar capos make great bookmarks!
So my productivity for the day has nose dived out the window since my parcel arrived with this BEAUTY inside.
Its rather larger than I anticipated, but my god, it sounds beautiful! Definitely going to have to build a FX-Board soon, carting them all around in a rucksack just doesn’t knock it anymore with the size of this thing!
Since I play acoustic, effects are crucial for me to stand up against the other instruments in the band;
- OverDrive (Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive) allows me to have a weightier sound, allowing for Prowse (lead guitar) to play higher up without the music lossing power in the low end.
- By adding tremolo it’ll make my clean parts much prettier, whilst also make my pedal board look awesome!

I swear I use this on everything, love my Ebow! Its basically a glorified magnet.
When you place the concentrated magnetic field over the string, it causes the string to vibrate, creating an infinate sustain that’ll last as long as the battery! Its only got one button, that changes the type of harmonic created, apart from that its completely reliant on technique.
Top Tip: Works create on acoustic instruments too, especially in combination with a slide and with some delay in the mix.
